The camera head is one part of a complete imaging system. When choosing a replacement or expanding an existing setup, check the camera generation, compatible camera control unit, optical connection and the exact components included in the listing. A camera head and coupler listing does not necessarily include a control unit, light source or monitor.

For the 1488 platform, the collection includes a camera head supplied with a separate 18 mm coupler and a different model with an integrated coupler. Stryker describes the 1488 system as using CMOS imaging technology and nine surgical specialty settings. The range also includes a 1288 urology camera head and autoclavable camera-head options from earlier Stryker generations.
